The purpose of the surveys was to measure the economic impact of the beaches on the island, the county, and the state. Additionally, the survey represents an updating of previous surveys of Captiva's beaches that were taken prior to the beach restoration project that was commenced in 1988 and was completed in April 1989. As a result, the surveys can be used to measure the effect of the beach restoration on beach use and its economic impact.Item The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture(Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 2016) Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)Item South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Program Section 309 Assessment and Strategy 2011-2015(NOAA, 2011-01) South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control; Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource ManagementItem Performance Assessment of Beach Management Units Along the Coastlines of Kenya and Tanzania(Indian Ocean Commission, 2014) Kanyange, N.; Kimani, P; Onyango, P.; Sweenarain, S.; Yvergniaux, Y.Item Beach & Dune Application(City of South Padre Island, 2012-07-11) City of South Padre IslandItem Goals, Objectives, and Implications for the Management of Florida's Sandy Beaches: A Primer(U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 2015) Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
