Changing Discipleship: Reinventing Ministry to Face Current Youth Issues
Abstract
Our world is constantly changing. As new technologies develop, new challenges arise. However, one challenge not often considered is how all this change is affecting today's youth. Now more than ever, they are faced with issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-worth and identity misplacement. In order to better serve the younger generation and help them to meet these challenges, it is the responsibility of youth ministers and mentors to reinvent the way they do discipleship. Using Roger's (2003) Diffusion of Innovations, the speaker explains how discipleship can and should be reinvented to help students struggling with mental health issues.
