dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, I propose a fuzzy adaptive connection admission control (CAC) approach for real-time applications in ATM-Based heterogeneous networks (ABHN) where ATM serves as a backbone that connects different LANs by interface devices. This type of network is popular lately due to their cost-effectiveness, high bandwidth, and scalability. For real-time applications, the most crucial quality of service is to meet deadline requirement which means timely and correct message delivery within the pre-specified deadline. This work is based on the feasible region CAC approach of [2] in which system parameters need to be optimized in order to achieve maximum system performance. In this thesis we extend the work of [21 by introducing fuzzy logic technique to solve the parameter optimization problem. By using our fuzzy adaptive CAC approach, I demonstrate that ABHN system performance can be significantly improved after integrating fuzzy rule base in the existing feasible region CAC approach. | en |
