Abstract
Fuel costs are rapidly escalating. The overall efficiency of any energy utilization must be improved immediately.
Steam traps - though a hardware item which received little attention can substantially effect the overall efficiency of a steam distribution system. There are several designs available and each has advantages and limitations within a particular application. This paper will give a brief overview of each design of trap emphasizing operational efficiency. The best steam trap for a particular application should have operating characteristics which complement the equipment which it drains.
