Abstract
Engineering calculations on PC's are undergoing a revolution with the advent of spreadsheet programs. The author has found that virtually all of the energy analysis types of programs can be cast into spreadsheet methods and thereby eliminate many of the problems of documentation, modification, verification, and validation that plague conventional programming approaches.
Specific examples of heat pump and cogeneration power system analysis, steam properties interpolation, boiler and combustion efficiency, and chiller performance are illustrated, with helpful hints to ensure successful application.
