dc.description | This prompt is for what could best be described as a transition assignment. The capstone assignment for VIBS 310 is a literature review in which student must not only review what the scientific community knows about a subject of interest to the student, but also propose a gap in our understanding, something specific enough that it could be addressed in a single research study. This takes students far outside their comfort zone and calls on them to develop skills they've never practiced before. This assignment allows them to propose a topic for their literature review in the less formal context of a memo. After the memo, they provide an annotated bibliography, which turns out to be an excellent indication of how well they understand their topic and how well prepared they are to write their capstone project. | en |
