Description(Black and white) This postcard appears to be a drawing of a "scrapbook page," depicting "The First Hitch," a cartoon battle of political nature. It has a crookedly affixed British, green, halfpenny stamp. The postmark is cut off but reads "Forest Gatee" and was marked in August 1916, at 11:15 A.M. The sender does not provide their name, but signs "Your Little Monkey" in childlike handwriting. The card is addressed to Miss B. Latham, care of Mrs. Tomkins.
This collection previously belonged to Dominic Hibberd, an English biographer most noted for the biographies of Wilfred Owen and Harold Monro, World War I poets. He collected these postcards for research purposes.
