Abstract
The aim of this research is to design a high data rate wireless communication system for multi-path fading channels. Code-division multiplexing is proposed as a modulation scheme for a space-time coded multiple antenna system that would guarantee robust performance over flat and multi-path fading channels and the performance studied over Rayleigh fading channels. The feasibility of a fixed-point implementation of the algorithm on general-purpose digital signal processors is evaluated. The system is implemented on StarCore's SC140 fixed-point DSP core. The very large instruction word architecture of the SC140 is utilized to efficiently implement space-time coded code-division multiplexing system. The goal is to evaluate the suitability of space-time coded code-division multiplexing for next generation wireless systems.
