Abstract
During the nineteenth century came the discovery that all objects absorbed and re-emitted heat and that the color of the object determined the amount of absorption that would take place. This phenomenon was discovered by an English astronomer who was attempting to find a material to reduce the glare in telescopes. Today it is known as the infrared spectrum of the electromagnetic spectrum.
