Abstract
In 1974, the Manufacturing Chemists Association (MCA) developed an energy rate method for reporting the energy conservation results of the chemical industry to the Federal Energy Administration. The MCA Energy Rate Method has served as a model for other industries and the government. The MCA method is simple, provides flexibility and
permits easy aggregation of data within a corporation and industry. It has stood the test of time (5 years) and has proven to be an excellent method for calculating conservation results.
